Xeomin Pre and Post Injection Instructions

Xeomin treatment involves the injection of highly diluted, individualized doses of botulinum toxin A into (or in close proximity to) overactive facial muscles which are responsible for wrinkles. Xeomin relaxes muscle(s) by diminishing their ability to contract. The following Xeomin injection Self-Care instructions have been prepared specifically for our patients.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • For one week before treatment, please avoid the following medications: Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Naproxen, Excedrin (all OTC pain pills except Tylenol), vitamin E, Vitamin A (Tretinoin, Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Triluma), Gingko Biloba, Omega-3 fatty acids, cod liver oil, CoQ10, garlic and ginger.
  • Avoid sun exposure to the area to be treated one week before treatment.
  • Do not take ANY muscle relaxing medications (example: Soma or Flexaril) at least one month before treatment.
  • If you have a special event or vacation coming up, please keep in mind that you may want to schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors may increase risk of bruising and swelling).
  • If you develop a cold / flu, cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
  • It is recommended to discontinue Retin-A two (2-3) days before treatment to avoid any increased redness and irritation.
  • It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks to have botulinum toxin treatments performed if you have previously had cosmetic treatments with laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or micro-dermabrasion.

AFTER TREATMENT

  • Remain upright for 6 hours following treatment. No lying down or bending over for 6 hours.
  • Keep the treated areas clean. Light make-up coverage is acceptable if desired.
  • You may apply ice for 5 minutes every 1⁄2 hour if there is any pain or swelling. Any bruising will eventually resolve on its own, typically within one to two weeks.
  • If post-injection bruising is noticed, consider using the OTC homeopathic natural remedy Arnica Montana, which has been shown to rapidly relieve and even prevent bruising. Arnica is available at most health food stores and is safe (free of reported side-effects).
  • As always, wear at least SPF 30 sun block when appropriate and avoid exposure to intense, direct sunlight and heat (example: sun lamp steam, sauna) for at least two to three days.
  • Move the facial muscles (frown, smile, raise eyebrows) that have been treated throughout the rest of the day. This will help the muscles absorb the Xeomin.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Do not rub or massage the areas treated for 24 hours.
  • Do not take aspirin containing products (see above) for the next 24 hours. These agents may increase bruising/bleeding at the injection site.  Tylenol may be taken.
  • Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment. These items may increase bleeding and bruising.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
  • Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products (ex. Kinerase, Tazarac) 2 days after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.
  • Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or micro-dermabrasion for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Try to avoid wearing makeup until the day after treatment. Earlier use may cause pustules. If you must wear makeup we recommend a good quality mineral makeup for the face.
  • Avoid wearing hats or headbands after treatment.
  • Please report to your provider if any increased pain, increased swelling, redness, blisters, or itching immediately, should it occur following your treatment.
  • The onset of muscle relaxation usually begins in 7-10 days, but optimal results may take up to 2 weeks.
  • *NOTE*: Results may vary. If there is partial improvement of a treated site, and re-treatment is desired, a second treatment may be performed no sooner than 2 weeks after the primary treatment. There is a subsequent charge for any “touch–up’s” or additional treatment.
Please contact us immediately should there be any side effects or questions regarding your treatment with Xeomin.

DERMAL FILLER PRE AND POST INJECTION INSTRUCTIONS

Skin filler treatment involves the injection of highly purified, individualized doses of hyaluronic acid into unwanted skin folds, creases, lines, and wrinkles.  The skin filler acts by superficially “filling” in and simply smoothing out unwanted skin lines with a biologically natural product.  The procedure must be performed by an appropriately licensed and trained physician or mid-level provider pursuant to physician supervision and according to prevailing state law.  The following Self-Care instructions have been developed specifically for our patients.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • For one week before treatment, please avoid the following medications: Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprosyn, Excedrin (all OTC pain pills except Tylenol), Vit. E, Vit.A (RetinA, Renova, Tretinoin, Tazorac, Differin, Triluma), Gingko Biloba, Omega-3 fatty acids, cod liver oil, CoQ10, garlic and ginger.
  • If you are taking any blood-thinning medications as per doctor’s orders (such as Coumadin, Warfarin, Plavix, Lovenox),do not discontinue without first consulting the prescribing physician. If you continue to take these medications the chances of developing an injection-related hematoma (blood clot) which can leave a dark spot if it becomes entrapped in the filler implant is higher. The dark spot may remain until the filler is naturally dissolved.
  • Do not schedule any social events for the next 3-7 days as you may have bruising and/or swelling lasting this long or longer. You can cover up bruising with makeup.
  • Arrive for your appointment wearing no makeup if possible. You will be able to apply makeup after your treatment although we recommend waiting at least 24 hrs.

AFTER TREATMENT

  • Keep the treated areas clean.  Light make-up coverage is acceptable if desired.
  • You may apply ice for 5 minutes every 1⁄2 hour if there is any pain or swelling.  Any bruising will eventually resolve on its own, typically within one to two weeks.
  • If post-injection bruising is noticed, consider using the OTC homeopathic natural remedy Arnica Montana, which has been shown to rapidly relieve and even prevent bruising.  Arnica is available at most health food stores and is safe (free of reported side-effects).
  • As always, wear at least SPF 30 sun block when appropriate and try to avoid exposure to intense, direct sunlight & heat (example: sun lamp steam, sauna) for at least two to three days.
  • Do not take aspirin containing products (see above) for the next 24 hours. These agents may increase bruising/bleeding at the injection site. Again, Tylenol may be taken.
  • Avoid alcohol intake beyond a single drink, glass of wine, or beer for approximately 24 hours after treatment.  You may sleep with an extra pillow if desired to minimize swelling overnight.
  • As always, tobacco and illicit drugs are discouraged.
  • Discontinue Retin-A (Tretinoin) for 3-5 days after treatment. It is best to wear no makeup or lipstick until the next day. Earlier use can cause pustules.
  • One side may heal faster than other side. You may have bumps or nodules of filler under the skin that can last 4-8 months after the injection. If they are particularly troublesome you can massage them, we can also give a small injection to help dissolve them faster.
  • Keep in mind that evidence shows that having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated tends to enhance the lasting effect of skin fillers.
  • Wait at least a week (preferably 2-3 weeks) after your injection before having other procedures done in the same anatomic area; example: microdermabrasion, laser treatment, chemical peel, etc.
  • Please notify us with any further concerns/questions.  Note that you can optionally schedule a follow-up visit to evaluate results after the initial swelling has dissipated.  Typically hyaluronic fillers can be reshaped for up to two weeks post-injection.

Keep Tegaderm in place for 48 hours post-procedure.
Perform active circular massage twice a day for the seven days following the procedure.

Pre- and Post-Use Instructions for Acne & Anti-Aging Programs
Including: NEOCLEANSE®, BIO GEL FIRM, BIO CREAM FIRM RICHE, Tretinoin 0.025%, and Hydroquinone 4%

✅ Pre-Treatment Instructions (Before Starting Your Regimen)

1. Discontinue Irritating Products:
Stop using over-the-counter retinols, exfoliants (AHAs/BHAs), and scrubs for at least 3–5 days prior to beginning this regimen.

2. Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable:
Begin wearing SPF 30+ daily and avoid tanning or prolonged sun exposure to prep your skin for actives like tretinoin and hydroquinone.

3. Prepare for Possible Sensitivity:
Understand that mild dryness, flaking, and redness can be part of the skin adjustment process, especially in the first 2–4 weeks. This is temporary and manageable.

4. Hydration is Key:
Start using a gentle hydrating product (like BIO GEL FIRM or BIO CREAM FIRM RICHE) before starting your actives to strengthen your skin barrier.

🧴 Morning Routine Instructions

  1. Cleanse:
Use NEOCLEANSE® Gentle (Acne) or Exfoliating (Anti-Aging) Cleanser. Pat skin dry.

  2. Treatment:

    • Hydroquinone (Anti-Aging Only): Apply a thin layer to areas of pigmentation or discoloration. Avoid the eye area.

    • No Tretinoin in the morning.

  3. Moisturize:
Apply BIO GEL FIRM (Acne) or BIO CREAM FIRM RICHE (Anti-Aging) to nourish and protect skin.

  4. Sun Protection:
Finish with broad-spectrum SPF 30+—daily, rain or shine. Tretinoin and hydroquinone make your skin more sun-sensitive.

🌙 Evening Routine Instructions

  1. Cleanse:
Repeat your morning cleanser (Gentle or Exfoliating depending on your regimen).

  2. Wait 10–15 minutes:
Skin should be completely dry before applying tretinoin to avoid irritation.

  3. Treatment:

    • Tretinoin 0.025%: Apply a pea-sized amount to entire face, avoiding eyes, nostrils, and mouth. Start with 2–3 nights per week, and build up to nightly use as tolerated.

    • Hydroquinone (if prescribed): Can be used in the evening too, especially for deeper pigmentation concerns. Avoid using at the same time as tretinoin unless directed by your provider.

  4. Moisturize:
Apply your designated Neocutis moisturizer to reduce dryness and support skin repair.

🔁 Weekly Guidelines & Reminders

  • Week 1–2: You may notice dryness, light flaking, or “purging” (temporary breakouts as skin clears). Keep moisturizing and reduce frequency of tretinoin if needed.

  • Week 3–4: Pigmentation may begin to fade, texture may feel smoother, and breakouts may decrease.

  • Week 6–12: Expect visible improvements in skin tone, clarity, and fine lines. Stick with the routine—consistency is key.

⚠️ What to Avoid

  • Waxing, laser treatments, or harsh exfoliants in treated areas

  • Tanning beds or unprotected sun exposure

  • Combining tretinoin or hydroquinone with benzoyl peroxide (unless directed)

  • Using actives like vitamin C or acids at the same time as tretinoin/hydroquinone (space out by AM/PM or different days)

📌 When to Contact Us

Call your provider if you experience:

  • Redness, swelling, or burning that worsens over time

  • Severe dryness, cracking, or peeling

  • Signs of allergic reaction

vi peel Treatments Pre and Post Injection Instructions

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

7 Days Before Your Peel:

  • Stop using retinol, tretinoin, hydroquinone, glycolic/salicylic acids, and other exfoliants.

  • Avoid waxing, laser hair removal, and aggressive scrubs on the treatment area.

  • Let us know if you are using any topical or oral acne medications.

  • Avoid sun exposure and do not use tanning beds.

  • If prone to cold sores, notify us—a prophylactic antiviral may be prescribed.

Day of Your Appointment:

  • Arrive with clean skin – no makeup, moisturizer, or sunscreen.

  • Wear comfortable clothing, especially if the peel is being applied to the neck or chest.

  • Let your provider know about any recent illness, allergies, or medications.

🧴 POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

You’ll be given a VI Peel Post-Care Kit with everything you need, including cleanser, moisturizer, and post-peel towelettes.

👣 Days 1–2 (Peel On):

  • Leave the peel solution on for 4–6 hours, then cleanse as instructed.

  • Apply Post-Peel Towelettes at night (after cleansing).

  • Your skin may feel tight or look slightly tanned/orange. This is normal.

  • Avoid heavy sweating or exercise.

👣 Days 3–5 (Peeling Begins):

  • Peeling usually starts around the mouth and continues to the cheeks and jawline.

  • Do not pick, peel, or rub the skin—let it flake naturally to avoid scarring or hyperpigmentation.

  • Use the moisturizer provided as often as needed.

  • Continue to use post-peel towelettes until finished.

👣 Days 6–7 (Healing & Glow):

  • Peeling slows or stops. Skin may appear pink and feel baby-smooth.

  • Resume your normal gentle skincare routine.

  • Continue daily SPF 30+ and avoid direct sun for at least 2 weeks.

🛑 WHAT TO AVOID AFTER YOUR VI PEEL

  • No waxing, exfoliating, or scrubbing for 10 days

  • No makeup during heavy peeling (Days 3–5), unless approved

  • Avoid harsh or active ingredients (retinol, acids) for 7 days post-peel

  • No chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments for 2–4 weeks
